“Man About Town” by Sydney’s Goldfish Smarts is a brilliant and captivating musical journey that showcases the band’s exceptional ability to blend different genres of music. With their signature alternative-indie-surf-rock style, this six-member Manly, Australia band … has again produced a soulful and rustic masterpiece combining urban myths and rural charm.
…the explosive finale “In the Moment” which has the most distorted and reverbed vocals of the 5 tracks as Phil Kelly sings his soul out about the unconventional, the repetition (“living in the moment, dying at the moment”) and the desire to not be repressed or shoved into the boxes of conventionality.
Here’s an EP coming from Australia. “Between Moonlight & The Music Shed”, by the Goldfish Smarts, smells like a good old fashioned pub rock.
I love the groove running throughout. 'Man About Town' is a funky, contagious listen. Neatly infusing hazy Madchester 90's indie vibes with soulful, pop-ish melodies and blues tendencies before breaking into a more heavy rock stance. It's got an infectious aura of pretentious swagger. Goldfish Smarts radiate confidence and have the ability to seamlessly genre-hop to create a dynamic, authentic sound.
